97 Grand Cherokee, can I swap a 242 in place of a 249 transfer case. What problems should I expect, Thanks Henry

The one should bolt up in place of the other. The only big issue may be the shifter. You might do well to find a 242 equipped GW and grab the shifter to go with the t-case.

You simply adjust the rod on the shifter. Be careful of spline count.

what would you be doing with your 249 and where are you located

I held on to it as backup but have since replaced both ZJs with WJs so had planned on advertising next spring. It is out of a 96 5.2 car with 75k on it. The wobbles were caused by bad CV Joints which I replaced with UJoint axles and a 242. I live near Blacksburg VA but will be in Cincinatti for turkeyday. Interested? I also have a 2000 231 with 1k from new for sale.
