Goose After 11 years and 1.5 million miles I am done. the fuel prices and economic pressures have convinced me that the trucking industry is not for me.. I hauled some equipment the other day and it paid 1600 dollars..and I put 1455 in the fuel tank. So I will be off the board for a couple weeks as I am selling the truck trailer etc and will be "Forced" to move back to Central City, Colorado to return to the "tiring drudgery" that is the Casino Surviellance world. Oh and did I mention that I will be living in Golden Gate Canyon state park.. Sigh where the four wheelin starts at the end of the driveway.. oh what sacrifices we must make.. :sa: :!: It is sad though that a business that grosses 150 thousand dollars a year netted 15 thousand last year. The truly sad part is that this is happening across the industry and soon the economy will show the results, the costs to ship must rise and they will be added to the price at the store.. So you colorado guys drop me a line and we will do a Nedeland to St. Mary's Glacier run I know the trails up over the top of Argentine pass.
youdidwhat sorry to hear you must give up the open road for a nine to five. at least the trails are in your back yard. :!: I have to drive for two hours just to find a legal trail. :(:
jeepsr4ever I am sorry to hear this!! I too am hearing of many shutting down and hitting the pavement. Good to hear you found a gig!
Lifted79CJ7 That sucks Goose! I am just glad that you have another gig lined up - even if it is repetitive! Oh, and thought you might get a kick out of this story.... http://jobs.aol.com/article/_a/surprising-six-figure-jobs/20060810150309990001
Mudrat Bummer Goose, but at least you'll have time to work on your Jeep - maybe even drive it for FUN!!! Get some pics of your rig and post'm up before you sell the big beastie.
Lifted79CJ7 I remember on a trip to Vegas a few years ago a guy let me drive his truck around a parking lot - what a hoot! And I thought my Jeep was big!
Goose Well I am here in the rockies.. and the Peterbilt is history.. (As side note My J-10 is really good at a lot of things.. but a 500 mile drive at 75 mph isn't really one of them. Maybe if I replaced the clapped out bench seat.and softend the spring rate a bit) Any way.. I was in town 24 hrs and had the XJ and my 7 yr old out on the trails..heh heh He has grown up in Nebraska, Where 4wheelin' meant a liitlle mud hole in a pasture.. But you know guys now that they have hotels and other amenities up here we should organize a Bulltear-palooza up here next year.. Drinking, Gambling, and decent trails all within 5 miles of each other, (Plus Beacoup camping for those inclined that way)
