CJ SUSPENSION TO CLEAR 35" TIRES

I got this CJ that I've been working over engine options for, the main issue and the first thing I was asked to do was correct some suspension issues. right now it already has 35" tires, some sort of lift springs, which the front has broken leafs, which it the reason this project has been brought my way. The other issues I see that they were not aware of is that there is a hack job/hommade shackles, tires smacking the fenderwell headers, which I want to eliminate when I do the engine work, and what I consider poor steering geomerty. So what I'm thinking I need righ now is pics, and part # etc of what works well for this setup. Ithink it is going to see street, and light to moderate trail use, if it gets used around this area it probally won't see much for any rock crawling type stuff. If I get more mobile with my knee I just has fixed, I'm going to try to get pics of what it has now so maybe someone can see any issues I may have missed since my main thing is FSJ'S and I'm still learning on these baby jeeps.

I had 35s on my CJ7 with a 4" superlift spring kit, a 1" longer than stock shackle, and a 1" body lift. They still rubbed a bit under hard flex. I did a front shackle reversal which moves the axle forward about 1.5" and that helped with the front rubbing, but didn't completely eliminate it. Rubicon express makes one of the best lift kits on the market now, very complete, but pricey at around $1000.

I finally went to a spring over on 2" lift YJ (Wrangler) springs, and added TJ flares. I now run 37s with no rub. At the same time, I added flat top knuckles from a Dana 44 and went to a "high steer" setup. The steering geometry is right without even a dropped pitman.

Thanks for the input, keep it comming :t: hopefully I can get pics of what it already has and I might be able to work with that, but it sounds like doing it right is the main concern, and cost is secondary.

thinking the 4.5" on this page would be good, as right now it still has narrow springs, and broken leafs in front, looks like I would still need to find shocks, but other wise it appears to have most everything I would need. :-|

I've got a 2.5" superlift, shackle reverse and spring over on D44's with 35's. Can't remember which shocks I put on - well I still have to put them on (when ever I get home/time). without shocks I have about 12" between rubber and top center of the fenders. and with the spring over about 6" between springs and bump stop.
