I believe the radiator cap on my amx stock is 13lb, what are the pros and cons of using a heavier or lighter cap
runnamuck
the higher the lbs. cap the higher the boiling point of your coolant will be. however, you run the risk of radiator, heater core, or hose rupsure if they have some age on them or not in good shape. i would never go lower lbs. than stock because the lower lbs. the lower the boiling point will be and risk a cookout on the cap. hth.

The cap raises the boiling point about 3 degrees for each pound of pressure (water at sea level). A 13 lb cap would raise the boiling point about 39 degrees to 251 degrees, a 16 lb cap would get you about 260. Like above, you do risk leaks on marginal systems.
