360 BUILD FOR SOMEONE ELSE

I have been asked to get together some options and pricicing for a 360 that will go into a 79 CJ, it has a 3spd that will probally stay because it has been rebuilt, if I remember correctly it has 35" tires, I don't have any other details right now on gearing etc. I'm looking to ditch the fenderwell headers as they are getting bashed by the tires, so some exhaust ideas will be helpfull also, thinking large single exhaust with a quieter turbo/flowmaster muffler. I want to option out the edelbrock FI and carb routes, as it souds like this guy has some money to dump into this, just in the planning stages right now, but any input/costs/helpfull info welcome at this point, I'll add info as I find out more, but to begin with I believe I talked them out of a 350 chev so that's a good start. :t: I also have suspension parts to replace, and hacks to repair, so I'll have to post under suspension on those issues when I get ready to tackle that. :-|

Chad I would getg him the low end grunt he needs to move that sucker nicely around town and trail. Look to cams with lift under 495 with a duration of 222-226 and a separation of 110-112. Of course you can tweak the rules a little. Those with the Edelbrock system really like it.

yep, I know he wants plenty of low end, it currently has a 304 and does not have enough grunt for him. I know I can probally do a search and find cam info, but any input on what's good/bad is always welcome. I will be using one of my 360s as a core, looking at the one from my dad's 78 J20 that is well worn, so I plan on doing all the new oil system parts/mods needed for this type of engine. I'm kind of dissapointed that I need to work with the 3spd, I tried to get them to go with one of my T18's or go NV4500, but since the 3spd was rebuilt before I was brought into the project it is staying. :roll: I would like to go with the FI, but carb/intake sugestions welcome as well as I want to give them the option. If I go carb hopefully I can set it up on the dyno at my employers engine shop, where I plan to get the machine work done, and possably some of the assembly, so I will also looking fo any info the machine shop will need to know. Thanks MC for the input so far, :t: keep the info comming, and MC let me know what parts you have, and what/where else I will need to look for, as I would like to get as much of the parts as possable from bulltear if or when this project gets going, but I need to get my parts list, machine costs, etc. all together and price it all out first.

What do you think of the Isky 280?

I haven't had too much time to check arund yet, I'm going to be off my feet for a while after knee sugery on monday, :(: so I'm hoping to get going on cam selection and parts list while I'm off my feet. :mrgreen:

of the cams on your e-store what do you think is best for this setup? I'd like to do as much one stop shopping as possable. also of the other parts needed for a complete engine where's a good place to get that stuff? :-|
