Dusty throwing a motor back together in a ranch vehicle dont care too much so long as its a runnable piston not cracked or scarred. three in this motor cracked so we plan on swapping in 3 in place of them problem is right now i have called several places and they all said std bore pistons arent available .... Back ordered right now. We are going to do the earl shibe rebuild cast rings, hone cylinders slide in that old howards cam i have, a few bearings here and there and the el cheapo lap valve job. no point putting any money into a rig that sees 500 miles a year on dirt roads on a ranch so if you have your old std bore pistons sitting in a bucket
zero cool Crap. I just overbored mine and the machine shop scrapped the standard bore piston. Bad timing. :(
jeepsr4ever Check ebay, sometimes you will find a set of badger std bore pistons. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AMC-Pistons-401-standard-bore-cast-dish-1972-V-8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33623QQitemZ8036250364QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-Pistons-AMC-401-71-74-V-8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33623QQitemZ8045769441QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
Dusty thats the same mistake i usually make, over bore and have them toss the stockers. but on this one boring it out just isnt worth the money
tarior Hey Dusty, how 'bout I send you a 360 to run 500 mi. a year down dirt roads, and you send that 401 to a new home where it will be loved and cared for..... mine!

Dusty :?: nah i keep it just incase i ever gren  ade my 401 in my jeep but still keep it in service until that day comes. plus that 401 is just so much more impressive when pulling treestumps out than a tired 360.....
