Put a OEM gear on a MSD billet distributor. Gear that matches the cam gear from the original core. Would you believe the OEM gear and the MSD gear are drilled for the roll pin in different spots?
The difference is .020. So with the OEM gear, I have about .0375 end play.
So, I guess shim out the excess end play with a washer on the shaft above the gear and then shim the distributor base the same .020 to make the gear mesh where MSD intended.
Any thoughts? Am I being too anal about this? My recollection is the end play should be .016 to .020.
