shawn Just recently found an eBay auction for a YJ with a Cummins 4BT, looked snug but he said it was a great swap.
runnamuck cummins is probably yer best bet, seen a couple looks pretty simple. try google, i'll search too see what's out there.
KJMac I see the cummins 4 cylinder diesels on portlands craigslist every now and then with a T-19 bolted up to them.
runnamuck heck man, come to think of it jeep has already this, just not in a 8. back in the day, the cj5 and cj6 could be had with a perkins diesel. needle in a haystack, but might be easier.
Dusty toyota turbo diesel, nissan diesel or mitsubishi from dodges in the early 80s. also the mecedes 5 cyl is ok the down side to the cummins swap, they are heavy and TAll and the oil pan hangs WAY DOWN. i think the smaller toyota turbo is a really good way to go. but thats just my humble opinion after sticking a 4bt into a cj7. The perkins is a good option too. your biggest headache is mating a tranny easily and getting it all clean. also starter orientation is a pain on a few of the diesel conversions ive been around. overall the nissan, toyota and mitsubishi disels from the 80's
