They are all the same size. The early covers have timing marks A10-0-R10 and the oil filter adapter has a 90 degree bend in the oil passage. The later covers, and repros have timing marks A20-0, and the adapter has a 45 degree bend so the oil flows better.
If you're going concours correct, you need the early cover and adapter. Bare minimum, you should replace the pump gears, pressure relief spring, and filter adapter cover with new parts. MC has them here, go to the e-store.
