tufcj wroteIn most of the semi-floating designs (AMC20, Dana 44, Dana 35), there is an inner and outer seal. The inner keeps the gear lube OUT of the bearing, the outer keeps the grease in. The lube stays in the diff, and the bearing is packed with a high temp grease.
SOME 3/4 ton full-floaters do allow the gear lube to the bearings.

Well that makes since Bob since the rear pumkin didn't take much fluid.
I'll pull the axles & see what's up.
P.S. Does the axle have "C" clips, I never delt w/the clips b-4.
