Auto tranny kick down

How do you adjust or set your kickdown on an auto tranny

Depending on the kickdown whether its for a chrysler tranny (They have adjustments at the carb) or GM tranny (they are adjusted at the pedal).

MC do you have the upper bushing for the shift linkage off the column? It's a plastic (Nylon?) piece at the top where the column shift arm retains the down rod that goes to the trunion at the bell crank. The one that came out of the YJ sorta disinegrated and I've not been able to find one on-line anywhere. 111!!!

Hi joey and welcome aboard. And Nope. What I needed was the column shift bushing for the upper shift linkage for the tranny. I can get a pic when I get home (in St Louis now) from the Jeep parts book.

I wound up making one from a 5/16 nylon nut. I drilled the ID to .32 and then turned the OD to .45" and trimmed it down to fit the width of the shift rod; then used channel locks to press it on the rod and into the hole on the shifter arm. Then I turned a flat washer to .34"ID to hold the bushing in place on the rod and made a cotter key to fit the shift rod and hold it all together.

Just getting tired of "making" parts that should be available.

I have decided that I hate the kick-down linkage and now all of my auto trans AMC's will get TH400's or TH700r4's.
