What Carb for 360 w/edelbrock performer 2131

If I get the performer intake,2131, what carb are you guys running. Can I use the stock mc2100 on the performer? Trying to decide what carb I need. Don't really want to pay for a new edelbrock carb. The other route is if I throw in the comp cam 260H and keep the stock intake, therefore, being able to use the stock carb, will this still give me good performance and/or restrict my rpms. Is this route a good idea? Please offer some advice. I'm trying to get this 360 rebuilt and ready to go by the end of May. Thanks!!

We sell the Edelbrock 600cfm with offroad needles and seat for under $200 shipped. The 2bbl Motorcraft carb will require a adaptor and your performance will barely felt...with gas mileage suffering from the 2bbl on top of a larger plenum intake.

I ran a Holley 600 w/vacuum secondaries on a 304 and 360 with good results. The 2BBL will need an adapter and will restrict airflow. I have an Edelbrock on my AMX and I've also had good luck with it. I'd say find a 4BBL, you'll be happier in the long run. Mileage won't suffer as long as you keep your right foot out of it. (right! :?: ). Bob tufcj

I guess I'll go with the edelbrock 600 carb but is the other route with stock intake and comp cam 260H a bad idea? Or do you think the 8600 is better than the 260H.

it's going to be a little more expensive, but i would say your best combo would be the performer intake 260h cam and the 600 carb. just my .02 :razz:

I'd go with a Comp 262XE or a 268H, and Performer intake.

Check out Ebay. I got a edelbrock 600 carb really reasonable. The offroad kit and a rebuild kit cost is well worth the risk. :?:

If you're not going off road, the Edelbrock is hard to beat. If you are going off road, you'll want to beat that Edelbrock with a BFH because it can't handle even moderate angles, even with their "off road" kit. For off road, I wouldn't run anything but a Holley Truck Avenger or Quadrajet.

I had problems with my Edelbrock 1406 carb for 2 years on hills. I have the offroad needle and seats with the cal kit. I finally got the Edelbrock air/fuel meter to tune it and to see what was going on. Well after many float setting changes, metering rods and step up spring changes we have this thing dialed in. At this years ECI my son beat the crap out of it on all the trails and it never missed a lick. It even went up all the hills that gave us problems in the past with ease. I was ready to trash this carb but now I think we will keep it. We also run a 1" tall 4 hole spacer with great results. Jim

Well I haven't had mine past the driveway for some time - it's been a long rebuild with time away from home and over seas - so any insights and tips would be REALLY appreciated. Either here or a PM. I'm off to England for a few weeks on and off until the end of Oct and want to take the Heep hunting over Thanksgiving. I'm real close and some carb tuning for hte 360 would be really handy.

The carbs we have here are very nicely prepared. We had a rockcrawler need one overnight and he won his competition with a 427 (carbed) engine. If properly setup the 1406 or any of the performer carbs really work well offroad. .....easy to screw them up though

I will try to remember what rods, jets, step up springs, and flost setting we are running. This should get you in the ball park as there are alot of things that affect the set up. I will tell you this, these thing are way lean for a 360 out of the box at my location (800 ft.).
