Need answers desperately

Swapping in a 401 to replace my 258. The consensus is you have to change the frame mounts. everything i've heard and read says you can use the same driverside frame mount, but you have to change out the passengerside.

I located a set of frame and block mounts, but the frame mounts are exactly like the ones i currently used with the 258 as far as dimensions go...identical. The passengerside even has the same mounting holes. The difference is the driversside mount has different slotting for the motormounts.

I contacted the guy and talked to him about this, and he said the passengerside mount will work fine as long as i use the CJ V8 motor brackets. He runs a 401 in his CJ7.

Anyone have any input on this? pictures of the passengerside mounting assembly?

Passenger side frame mount needs to be changed. If you need a set I can get them new or you can ask in the wanted section

you need the cj block mounts too fsj mounts are to high

i got the CJ block mounts.....at least, thats what im guessing at this point. They appear to be taller then the J10 mounts....lifting the engine about an inch or so. What boggles me, is i can see where he had the frame mounts bolted together with the block mounts because of the crud pattern on the uncleaned surfaces.....looks stock....but 6cyl frame mounts w/V8 block mounts. I dunno

Here are the mounts for an AMC V8. I use these in my CJ and the FSJ's. CJ has a swapped in 401, FSJ's have 360's. I know this is the stock mount for the FSJ. They are marked left and right.

Don't waste your time with stock mounts. Go to www.mountainoffroad.com and order their "bomb proof" mounts and never look back. :wink:

I kept breaking stock mounts. I've had the M.O.R.E. mounts on the Jeep for 10+ years, 2 rubicon trips, 3 Dakota Challenges, and a roll over without breakage. :lo1l:

In my experience it is the center rubber parts that break, not the steel parts. You can get the poly center mounts, never used them, but they may be stronger. In my CJ I have a torque chain set up. Stock mounts work fine.

Thanks for the pics Fuzz, those are the exact block mounts i got. Now....The brackets in question are the frame mounts.......It appears i got a set of 6cyl frame mounts, but the V8 block mounts were obviously mounted up to them judgeing by the wear pattern between the seperate brackets and the existing rubber mounts.

I used the bomb proofs on both of mine. their worth the $$$$$$$$$$
