First time writing in to the group. Lots of great information here.
I have a '77 CJ7 with an AMC 360. I'm in the process of installing an Edelbrock RPM Performer intake. I discovered that my Stock intake doesn't have the PVC cover on the bottom of the intake and the new Edelbrock intake didn't come with one.
My question is: How important is this PCV valve cover? And If its needed where can I purchase one?
Any help would be appreciated....

Welcome to the forum.
I am not aware that you can buy those intake pans new. Have to go the used route. Or, at your own risk, use the tin lifter valley intake gasket and run without. I did this for several years on a 360 with no problems.
The purpose of the intake pan is to keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake. Do not use the non lifter valley gaskets without the pan or you will have a smoke machine. The pcv inlet will suck up oil flying around the lifter valley.

Appreciate the reply.
I am using a metal valley pan and there was a metal valley pan when I removed the old intake. I may have 4000 miles on the engine since I purchased it two years ago. Only use it for camping, hunting and playing. Motor runs good and doesn't use oil, doesn't smoke. Wasn't sure about the PVC Intake cover and since I had it apart I wanted to do it right.
I removed the old Duraspark ignition and installed a MSD off road ignition, as well as installed the MSD ready to run distributor. That helped the motor alot. Just trying to improve its performance and clean up the engine compartment a little. Fun, Fun....
I'm sure I'll have future questions.
Thanks again
