Well, in my quest for parting out my Jeep, GADJIT98 (aka David) came over to look at some parts. Well, after a few hours of goofing off and talking Jeeps, he finally decided to head home. As he backed out of the driveway, I made the proverbial stick proding comment of, "Hey, I thought you said that 258 had some power??" Well, sure enough it does and he left this outside my house:

I went in and started to get ready for dinner and got a phone call. It was David. I inquired as to his prompt calling soon after he left my house and he simply responded with the proverbial, "Uhhh, Jack? I think I broke something on that burn out. Do you mind if I come back to your house for a minute?" Well after poking fun (cause for once it wasn't me with a broken Jeep), I told him to come on back.
Everything sounded fine until he turned in the driveway and I heard something clacking. Uh oh - that doesn't sound good. Anywho, we climbed underneath his baby only to notice this:

Yup, David my friend, you have spun your pumpkin!
Check out the crushed spring perch....

Well, we tried to pry it back down with a 5 foot section of angle iron and some industrial wire, but that sucker wasn't moving. We finally ended up just letting him drive home in front wheel drive with the rear driveshaft removed.
I did really feel bad, but it still didn't stop me from taking a picture of him doing the hot step dance while trying to explain to his GF why he was running late without telling her why he was running late. Hey, we have all avoided the "I TOLD YOU SO" speach before, but it's still funny to watch other people avoid them!

So, if anyone has a widetrack model 20 with 3.31 gears, let David know!
Jack
