tufcj wroteI never had any problem in Colorado. My Jeep was a factory 304, so when they ran the VIN at the test station, it said V8. It always passed the sniff test well within limits. I was running a mild RV cam (Edelbrock), with a Performer manifold and Holley 600 carb (EFI now), smog required stock manifolds w/air pump and a cat. Only one guy ever knew Jeeps enough to look at the engine block. When he asked for the engine swap papers, I just said I didn't have them with me, and went to a different test station.
It shouldn't be a problem unless the Jeep was a factory I-6.
