Doing the AMC world a favor

Well we had just about had it with the Mopar dipstick tube not fitting into the blocks and so have alot of customers and friends. The Mopar dipstick tube is .348 on the two retaining bosses...the hole in the AMC block is 21/64" or .328. Their is no way the dipstick tube with bosses that large will fit into that hole. This has cost alot of people anguish and broken tubes, knuckles and loss of dollars. We are working on a new tube and dipstick for the AMC V8's with another LARGE mfg and will also have these available in chrome or unpainted in about a month. We are giving them the dimensions and they are finalizing the manufacturing as I type this. Thats our contribution this week! :sa:

I'm still trying to get the one I got from the $tealership to fit in the block :(: Tried the box end wrench and hammer trick without success. Haven't looked real close, but if I neck it down to fit - - will the dip stick fit through it?? Or can I trun the end down enough to force it in? OPTIONS?? Pat

You will need to gridn the two raised bumps a little to get it to fit,

Well since I don't have the right bearing/seal retainers to put the axles back together, I can work on this until the game starts #-o :-| THX

The block is completely assembled and filled with oil.

Would have been, but what I did was polish the "bumps" and beat the crap out of a 5/16 wrench to get it snugged in there.

Now ... on to pressing the new bearings on the axle. But one of the seal retainers has some stress cracks in it???? I'm going to bead blast it tomorrow see how bad it is, and see if I can grind out the cracks, reweld it and then machine the surface back. My salvage yards are closed on weekends now 🙁: Don't understand that - figured Sat would be good days for the Yards to do business - anyway, it'll be quicker to see if I can fix the one rather than try and find one.
