Cheapest possible lift

Hey guys, what would be the least expensive way to gain 3" of lift under my old Jeep truck?

That looks like a 73 J4000 so you are going to be SOL. Hell Creek Suspensions is working on a 4" lift spring kit for our olders J trucks; one of the guys at the IFSJA is testing it right now.

I know you probably want suspension but it is cheaper to go with a body lift

Are you saying that because it has the old Post off the side of the frame style suspension? If so I believe BJ's Offroad had a lift for those. OR the other option would be move the springs under the frame, and you have a couple inches of lift right there

I am not to up on my FSJ knowlage so if i am wrong care to explain why he is SOL? :-|

I just missed by an hour a beat up Cherokee that had the same axles, a four speed and a manual t-case :smile: :smile:

I guess I could move the springs under the frame, a couple inches is close to three. I'd just like to run a little bigger tire.

On my '73 J4000 I am just adding a main leaf (with the eyes cut off) in #2 position to lift my truck back up. I already clear 33" tires no prob. I'm also upgrading to a J20 front axle at the same time.
My '84 J10 has a Ford front axle (gave me 7" of "instant" lift) I installed and http://ottindustries.com high steer arms that clear the front springs whereas other brands didn't. Spacers didn't seem safe and the ones I tried and checked out on others kept coming loose! :shock:

I'm actually thinking about SOA. Those high steer arms could be handy, though, thanks.

The early Jtrucks were already SOA. I lifted the rear of mine (post style) by lifting the truck with my engine hoist in the rear, undoing the shocks and using a prybar to flip the springs around. Then I hooked the shocks back up and dropped it down (it was waaay up at first. Putting a couple Ford Powersmoke diesels in the back brought it down closer to where it should be!)
