The next car is an 11.3 NHRA Stock AMX belonging to Jeff Lee. It is the quickest AMC to ever compete in NHRA Stock Eliminator.

You'll have to come to the AMO Nationals in Denver in 2007 (July 4th weekend). My club (Colorado AMC) is sponsoring the event. We are in talks with the current owners of the Drag-On-Lady and Pete's Patriot to have them at the event and do a few exehibition runs at Bandimere Speedway.

So what can anyone tell me about these edelbrock intakes?

Should I want to gutt the body and build a complete chassis with rollcage for the soul purpose of reducing weight and building a strong platform for a lot of HP. Where would one find guides and manuels to aid in such an undertaking? I would hate to screw a perfectly good body up and need another to start all over again as this will be my first attempt.

The intake is an Edelbrock crossram. Edelbrock part # STR-11. It was available from the AMC dealer with an AMC part #, or direct from Edelbrock without an AMC part #. They were standard on the SS/AMX. They've been discontinued for about 30 years. They pop up on eBay once in a while, usually run between $2500 and 3500 depending if they have carbs and linkages.

Good only for very high RPM engines (drag cars), probably wouldn't work well on the street.

I have seen plenty of the lil AMXs that will go low 9 seconds, and a few that go in the 8s and a couple that will go 7s. Gutting the body & chassis is not needed. Tie the front frame to the rear frame, a 12-point cage welded to the frame, and either ladder or (preferably) 4-link suspension pretty much takes care of the chassis. Fiberglass fenders, bumpers, etc., are still in production, so weight can be reduced to the low 2,000s easily. No need to destroy a survivor car when there are lots that need rust repair for fairly cheap prices.

Doesn't someone make a fiberglass body shell for an AMX? Are those 8 and 7 sec AMX's AMC powered?

Says it runs mid 10's. The launch picture with the wheels in the air looks
pretty cool. To bad they have the Hood adjusted all wrong which imho
totally ruins the grille profile, appearance, lines, and character of how
the car looks from the front.

Its not so much the adjustment of the hood as it is a hood that has been cracked or rusted underneath. Cracked from years of dropping it down.......they get to looking like a bird beak.

Thing is I "spoke" with the owners over on www.amcforums.com and they said it was a fiberglass hood and they seemd to have been a little offended at me asking about it.

I was wondering if it was a glass hood. But I have seen quite a few of the steel originals go south like that. Maybe a sore subject for them if they bought it like that and didnt like it themselves. BB
