J2000 Gadiator just spotted...

I have been rebuilding an 82' cherokee for the last 8 months, bout to order some new panels as it is rusted out a bit in sections ( heaps ) , then last week i stumble accross a J2000 Gladiator in need of a rebuild for sale , the owner is asking $500, looks awesome , missing a few minor parts. it has a 258 , d20 , not sure what the gearbox is .it has near new BFG all terrains ( 32 x 11.50 x 15 on good steel rims ), it has dana 44's front & back , will change out the closed knuckle drum brake front end for the open knuckle disc brake fornt end out of my cherokee. I am now goin to use the cherokee i have for parts for this j2000 , i have a good 360 , np 208 , 727 TF which i will drop into it after freshn up. Maybe drop the 727 in favour of a manual , but not sure what fits to a AMC 360 in a 5 speed ( Anyone know ? ), also the panels i need for this J200 are co-incidentally the the good panels on my cherokee ( doors & bonnet ) also have a propane set up will put in with the 360, also thinking about moving the rear end dana 44 back as far as i can to help with driveline angles once all the gear is in. and modifying the cabin into an Xtra cab ( that be fun ) , will use some sections out of my cherokee possibly , this will be a custom look J2000. will put up photos soon , just took them a few hours ago cheers Rick

Wow, sounds like a killer project! Please post the pics! As for the gearbox, you will have to go with Novak or Advanced Adapters to swap in an aftermarket (NV4500, etc) to be able to hold up to that much truck. Jack

now thinking i will definatelly move rear dana 44 back 1 foot or to end of chassis and custom xtend cabin to Xtra cab specs , with use of panels from an 82' cherokee i have ( was project , now parts for J2000 ), the body only has surface rust , paint is "shagged" as you can see, there is a little bit of Bog in it , not much at all , body is quite straight , suprising !

Right hand drive - that's cool. So are your pedals backwards from left hand drives? And what's the cool military rig in the background???? :lo1l:

never driven a backwards left hand drive before , so would'nt know , military rig , not mine but i have owned one in the past , 71' International MK 4 , Ex- army 4x4 with 20,000 pound pto winch , tyres stock are 1200 X 20 (were used in the Vietnam war- Aussie truck )
