On my next motor build, what cam do you recamend to get more rpm's. In a pipe dream, I would like to get close to 7,000 before my valves float. My curent 401's float at 5500-6k. What other tricks do you advise? I'll probably go expensive and make it a full roller motor as well.

polish and shot blast your rods balance the crank and rods and then a good solid lift cam

On top of what fuzz said I also would use either a Milodon or Canton
single or dual external pickup oil pan :lo1l:

And lots of head work to get a 401 to make power up there other wise you are just wasteing your time.

what head work would you do to the edelbrock heads? probably my next purchase

Match the ports and polish the bowls. The biggest error in the Edelbrock heads is that they made a smaller than the port dog-leg....probly so cusotmers can customize it...
