My old '65 CJ5 notwithstanding.....
I got my '84 CJ7 back in the spring of '91 from the stealership. Bone stock (plus Cal emmisions) 150cid 4 banger, T5, D300.
I rebuild the 4cyl once, and drove the hell out of it after installing a mild 2.5" lift and some 32" Swampers. after burning up an exhaust valve, i decided to rebuild a 258 and "drop" that in....learning allll about 'bolt-ins' along the way #-o . But the motor was nice....833 pistons, 264 Comp cam, TFI, Weber. Added 2.5 more inches of lift, bigger Swampers, one piece axles, locked the front and rear, trimmed up the fenders, and started on some bodywork/paint-by-Krylon.
After the T5 took its 2nd dump, i went with a T18a. Enough wasnt enough, so i did a 4.0L headswap w/Clifford intake, 500CFM Edelbrock, XJ header.......ran like a gorilla with its pooper on fire.
So here i am now, detonated a piston skirt on the 258 and a buddy offered me a sweet deal on a freshly built 401 out of a J10.....now thats what i call "drop-in" :!:
3rd engine with rebuilds inbetween.....this jeep's seen Hell and back, and it aint done yet by a longshot. :lo1l:
