Well, My 401 buildup into my cj7 went even better than I'd hoped. Although there were a few minor problems that I had to overcome the Jeep has performed great! I missed our first race due to a stripped bolt in the intake manifold so I had to just watch. I fixed the threads and loaded it up and drove 2 hours to a race in Lake Wilson, MN the next weekend. i ended up taking first place in the Super Stock class running against mostly big block fords & chevies! The next day I ran in a race in SD and made 4 passes before a rocker arm broke. I replaced all of them and went to our 3rd event in SD and ran undefeated until the last race and had to settle for 2nd. I was feeling pretty good about my rig and looked forward to the next weekends race. Race date comes and I run through the field to a 1st place finish!! In our club I'm the only small block in the field....everyone else is 468 CI big block Chevy, Dodge or Ford motors! Man, my grin was pretty big!! I've went from 14th in the points to 2nd in 2 races. I wanted you guys to know that I had gathered info from your forum and an AMC site to do my build-up and I owe you some thanks for a potent motor!! Sure, its a 401 bored 30 over with Ross flat-top aluminum pistons that yields 12-1 comp with 58cc heads. I run a crane H272h hyd cam (I would run a bigger cam but I have to pull a minimum of 15" of vaccuum), ported and polished dog leg 58cc heads w/double springs and stainless valves, torker intake, predator carb, MSD dist & 6T ignition with a rev limiter, stock rods w/ARP rod bolts, valley oil mod, balanced and chamfered crank, Holley Red pump and regulator, and the rings are Speed Pro file-to-fit moly rings. Headers are Hooker Super Comp fenderwell headers that are 1 7/8" primary tubes and 3" collectors. Current fuel is 114 race fuel bought from a Mobil retailer but I may spend the extra $ and try VP fuel as I've heard of 25 - 40 HP increases on a dyno just by switching to the VP fuel. I run a t400 auto with a stage 2 shift kit and a 3,500 stall converter and will usually hold it at 2,500 rpm at the line. I run spooled d44's front and rear w/4:56 in the frt and 4:88 in the rear which helps keep me relatively straight. The tires are 37 tall x 13 wide TSL Boggers on 15 x 10 aluminum wheels. I shift at 5,200-5,400 rpm (about 4' off the starting line for 2nd!!!) and into 3rd about half track (150' pit). One thing I'd like to change out is the lockouts on the front axle...does anyone make a kit that lets me eliminate them? Future mods are Aluminum rear-mtd radiator & electric fan, twin yellow top optima rear mtd batteries (eliminate the alternator) and I may borrow an 850 Demon carb and try it out. I'll try to get some pics of the motor this weekend and post them with the thread.

hohner - DUDE!!! Congrats on your moving up in the points race. Sounds like you have a great build and are having a blast with it. I too would be interested in pix of not just the Jeep and motor, but of you blasting through the pit!! Well done =D>

When using Webshots, you can not just copy the picture URL into a BBS (this type of board) because it is a randomly generated address when the 'owner' logs in (the =mjzFUz part).
What I have to do is 'invite' myself to view the album (in the right hand frame) and then paste that URL into the forum as a link for folks to go look at. Photobucket lists 3 ways to reference a pic into a board below each pic, Webshots does not.

You did it right, for most web-hosts, it's just Webshots won't let you do it that way. Even with a Webshots account I can't see these pics. ..
