727 tranny ?

I found a rebuilt 727 from a club member & it comes w/the flex plate ( we say flywheel :?: ) all the linkage & new torque converter for $500 bucks, sounds good to me. Question: The tranny is sitting behind a 360 & has a 208 T-case bolted up to it & my question is...........will a D-300 bolt up to the 727, I can't remember? I'll be running a SOA set up so the D/S should not hit the pan, correct. Also if I ever drop back to a SUA 4" lift it will still clear the pan correct. Thanks, RollBar P.S. Yes the D300 will bolt up.

Well, if U need it that bad maybe I could swing a deal for both. I have a rebuilt 999 & I want to put it in my wife's CJ7, but if I don't get another tranny I have to use it in the 8 behind the 360, that's why I was asking, I could use the 727 in the 8 & take out the 999 & give to her. I would prefer a 4spd. auto in the 8 but I don't want to spend $$ for adapters. RollBar

i have a 360/727/300 in my 74 cj5. i have roughly 4" of susp lift and the front driveshaft sits real close to the tranny pan, infacts it contacts slightly when flexed, it will probably bash the hell out of the pan if/when the front driveshaft breaks. if you have the same prob you can lower the tcase to help clear the pan and it will also help clear up rear dshaft angles if your wb is as short as mine

I heard that some of the 727 output shafts for the QT were too long fo the 300 TC, was that just on the borg warner? What I make of the article is a 727 out of an `89 grand Wagoneer with the QT should bolt up too my dana 300?
How would the length compare to my T-176? It looks shorter than the T-176?

They never used the quad behind a 727 it was always a th400 and it was used from 71-79. The np208 I believe has a 31 spline input making it wrong for a Dana 300 (23 spline). IIRC the tf727 in front of the np cases all had 23 splines except for the 208.
