Brought home the 78 Chero Saturday and spent Sunday checking her over. First on the list will be a new RMS, carb rebuild, and have the radiator checked out (looks like a few old repairs are seeping). I'm also going to replace all the water temp sending unit, as the gauge stays pretty low (barely comes off C), and I know she's running hotter than that just from the smell when I pop the hood.
Once those are good to go, I'll tear into the trans and t-case to make sure they're up to snuff. Figure a filter and fluid flush in the tranny won't hurt, and definitely want to get the QT chain checked. Already has all new u-joints, wheel bearings, and brakes so the rest of the driveline should be ok.
Also need to swap out the front leaf springs (currently has the 2 leaf HD ones on it), so I'll probably replace all the front end bushings while I'm in there. Engine mount rubber is pretty dry rotted, so that will be on the list as well.
Outside of the RMS and leaky carb, she runs and drives like a dream. Eventually will be picking up a spare 360 (or 401 if I can find one) to build up and swap in later. Original engine only has 94k on it, but it definitely isn't pretty to look at.
