What started as a stock, white, rusty, 85 CJ, that was going to be just a restoration. Welllllll ... we're well past that now :shock:

What started as (I thought) a fairly clean 87 YJ

Turned into my daughters ride :t:

And the latest addition to the project pile ... an 88 Waggie to be restored for the spousal unit (wife) but she's already told me she wants it higher, and flames painted on it!!!

EDIT: the Waggie is gone :smile: too much $$ to restore :smile:

One of thee days I'll have one that runs. Maybe :-| (at least my wife hopes so too :oops: )

Rollover valve (OBTW- indefinate backorder, they don't make them any more). Looks like I'll be by passing that and finishing the fuel system so I can put gas in it and get the final timing set, without sucking the fuel out of a coffee can :oops:
Rear brakes - still haveing a problem with the brake bracket (gotta figure out an E-brake to satisfy VA state inspection... :-|
Seats - Takin' Fuzzez :idea: concept and cutting down the stock seat brackets to fit the APC seats.
Worked on the PAX side yesterday - after cleaning out the back of the truck, wash/wax, and pack for the next week in Charleston.

I still have to park the trailer thats on the tractor which has the I-6 on it so Justin can cut the grass while I'm gone :?:
Not much left to do on this one and the YJ should be done this week, but I won't be here to pick it up - and the shop isn't open on weekends. #-o

So I figure I'll pick up the YJ and drop off the GW on the 23'rd (they already have the engine in the shop) and sometime that week I need to finish the CJ so I can make the FSJ Invasion!!!

What are you going to do for e brakes. I and Derek my son have disk brake and no e brake . On our Jeeps. One time Derek had his Chevy no e brake He had a barrel of water and 15 bags of cement 94 lb bags on a step hill broke a drive line. he sat and waited till I got there. we locked the hub and got the job done he drove home in front wheel drive with a locker. I was thinking of using a hydraulic lock. Bring the rear line up though the floor after the proportioning valve, to a hyd-lok then back down and run it to the rear brakes. Problem is you need to step on the brake to build pressure before setting the lock. Some release when you step on the brake again some set pressure when you pull a handle. Not sure if either are stree legal in VA though because it is not an independant safety brake???

Have you thought about a t-case mounted e-brake? What about cadillac calipers? They have a mechanical brake setup incorporated into them.

Thanks Jack, Yeah I have looked at the case mounted disk - no room and a lot of effort to mount one. Using the caddy calipers is an option and the tsmmfg site has a kit with disks and then just getting the calipers from UWI - that has crossed my mind too and might be the way I have to go to be street legal in VA. I live in VA and was recently talking with an inspector bout safety equip. I was told that you didn't have to have a windshield and if no windshield no wipers. gotta have a horn, since I will have onboard air I'm looking for a set off a locomotive, I would think with 175 psi going thru them it should be sifficend for the inspector, or an inspector a mile down the road. You have to have working outside door handles, if you have doors, bet the new C6 changes that. Then we talked bout ebrake, I asked bout a hyd lock such as some big trucks have and was told that it would be ok, if its good enough for big trucks it is good enough for small trucks. My Jeep BJ is registered as a Ford multipurpose vehicle, he thought I might have trouble if it looked like a Jeep. I told him I would put a Blue oval on the grill so the inspectors could tell what it is.

I need to haul my junk up there for inspection then :shock: I talked to 3 places here in The News and they all said a seperate system? :smile:

I got the new disk break set up from TSMMG and now need to clean the workbench off and get the axle up there where it's easier to work on. Better leverage to cut the old crap off and better leverage for the old man here :razz:

Where at in the mountains? I hunt up west of Staunton around the Bull Pasture creek area.

The smog part of our inspection is look under car, yup it has a cat. You might try "If its good enough for big trucks then it should be good enough for small ones", thats what convinced the local inspector. I live near Princeton, WV at 77&460. I'm wanting to do a full float on a 9" with disks, have to settle for Lincoln disks for now.

Well Just a tip on the train horn idea, dont blow them for a DOT inspector.. cause they arent legal on the street.. having said that you can get them at Iowa 80 truck stop (online) chrome shop for about 200 bucks. however look at the dimensions.. they are pretty big. the little plastic JC whitney jobs are legal though.

Thanks Hsss and Jack, I think #4 is where the local guys are making the distinction ...
4. - INSPECT PARKING BRAKE FOR:
Broken or missing parts.
Proper adjustment.
Standard factory equipment or equivalent.
Standard is a seperate system with a cable actuation ...

What ever - it will have one again when I can get them on.
Wonder if they gig me for seatbelts too? 4-point harnesses ...

I can't remember where, but I think 4 point harnesses are a no-no for street driving. Can't remember who on-line I heard that from (Think it was on the Jeep-L) but they could pass and had to put in regular belts. I think it had to due to the fact that 95% of people install the 4 point harness wrong so it crushes their spine in an accident instead of mounting it where the top straps hold you in.... Course I can't remember what state it was either. #-o

I think the ones I got from RCI say they are street legal (they bolt in rather than clip on) - now I can't remember #-o

it most likley has to do 4 or 5 point harnesses are SFI approved and not DOT approved
