It's been a while since I posted here, but, I think we might have to put my dad's 1980 Cherokee Golden eagle up for sale soon. The FS is about 98% original down to the CB/AM/FM radio, stock 360 2bbl and 4-speed manual, we are the original owners, bought it new in '79.
Body needs some attention, the fender flares are rotted in the corners. It's a 2-door, with stock 31 x 10.5's. About 101k miles on the clock. Hasn't really been driven in the last 8 years. Here's why: The fuel sender broke, and when we dropped the tank, the part of the frame that the tank skid plate bolts to crumbled to pieces. Now there's no way to mount the tank. I bought all new parts from Jeep for the tank mounting, including a new skid plate. My dad made a replacement piece of chassis out of 1/8" stainless plate, bent and notched correctly for proper fit. We just never welded it on. That is the major problem with it. I have mounted a temporary gas tank inthe cargo area, it runs and drives. Carb needs some work, I think the accelerator pump is shot. Needs a clutch, too. But it passes emissions tests better than new cars of today.
Interior is very nice, although there is a water leak into the passenger area when it rains. Probably a drip hole or something in the cowl area is out of whack. Carpets could use replacing.
The truck is just sitting in the garage collecting dust and taking up valuable space. (I's like to park my WJ in there rather than getting hit and scratched on the street...). The truck, as I see it, needs more work than we have time and money for. I'd like to see it go to a Jeep enthusiast, rather than the scrap yard...
I just have to discuss it with my dad, it's his car, he decides what to do with it. I don't have good pics of it right now, but it anyone light be interested, I'll take some for you.

I'll see if I can get some pics this weekend...
I kind of brought it up to my dad yesterday, and he said "It's a solid truck, could be fixed up nice when we have the time..."
So I'm not sure he'll go for it. He's sort of a pack rat, he'll keep anything that has "potential". That's why there's no room in the garage... #-o
