AMC 401 dyno numbers

Got an email from a friend, stuck his fresh 401 onto a dyno. FYI i have no idea on the build besides what he told me but here are his numbers. I do believe he has a HEI dist. The idle is smooth he says 750 rpm very mild tone (lope) indicating a performance cam but nothing annoying for what that is worth. forged pistons .030 800 edelbrock 4 Bbl Air Gap intake 9.76:1 Compression 58cc Stock heads (i imagine he ported and polished, including combustion chambers but i dont know) Long big tube headers (old fenderwell headers) .479 lift 222 Duration @.50 292 dur 114 center Herb Ferguson's 401 4/21/05 RPM HP TQ 2000 164 431 2500 213 453 3000 258 456 3500 323 474 4000 372 487 4500 391 463 5000 373 391 5500 369 357 6000 338 291 I can not verify these since i havent seen his print out or anything but i thought i might post em up

#-o Sorry the reason i posted was cause hes running the same thing Ray just put in his at stock compression std bore rebuilt 401 and what i am running in my 401 with aluminium heads FI and 10.2:1 compression. it will be interesting to see how they all compare. I will only be rear wheel dynoing mine though not engine dynoing. It is the howards cam .479/.479 222/222 dur@.050 292/292 dur 114 lobe seperation @.050 intake opens at 44 Exhaust opens at 46 -2 intake opens -6* TDC Overlap -4 Exhaust closes .299 Exhaust and intake gross cam lift

Great #s. Could you tell me what the intake center is (or degrees advanced)? It looks like a quite a few people have been finding impressive results with this cam. This was on an engine dynor, right?

I think it is ground with a 4* adv so 110. He said he installed the cam straight up.????

But when it comes to reading cam cards i get a little lost it looks like with the lobe center at 114, the intake opens at -2 degrees so that would be 112 and the they list the -6* TDC overlap and then the exhaust closes at -4 so would that be 116? Or would it be from the centerline -5* from TDC for when teh intake opens so that would be 109 and then the exhaust closes at 7* past the centerline or TDC

Hey newt or MC maybe you could delve into this for me and explain clearly how i should be inturpretting this. i used to have a vague grasp on reading and explaing one fo these but now its like pin balls up in my head. 111!!!
