I am currently rebuilding a 304 and I ran across a set of 360 heads with factory screw in studs, I know they will bolt up but have heard they wont "work" something about valve clearances etc. Anyone know if this is true??? thanks Bob

its the valves, they are soo big they hit the cylinders a little.....easy to clearance for though

How do i clearance the valves?? Thanks <bob

You will have to notch the block not the valves. Use some grease on the valves and tighten a head and turn the motor over till shes stuck (BY HAND!!!) and then notch accordingly

Yep, because of the small bore of the 304, and the big valves of the 360 head, you will need to notch the block just a little above where the top ring stops for each intake valve.
Keep in mind that the big valves will drop flow velocity, and probably ruin the bottom end torque of your 304.

I have already had the heads reworked with new valves and brass guides also I had them shaved 20 thousandths to increase compression and reduce the volume. I will be useing a mild ":RV" cam. I think this will work out well... Any thoughts??
