look'n for a hood seal

I need 2 of the rubber seals that go on the back of the hood where it stuffs against the cowl. I've looked in the parts book but can't even find it in the factory parts list! I had one on it when I started the resto but it was brittle and broke when I pulled it off before painting.

What vehicle are we talking? I've owned my 77 CJ since new. It never had a seal the the back of the hood. I've never seen one that did. Bob tufcj

They came from the factory on YJ's, but I would imagine it would work on a CJ. I've thought about putting one on mine before.

My '76 CJ-7 doesn't have a seal on the front (rotten out), or the back. Doesn't sealing off the engine just increase the chances of overheating (the engine, not me...)?

I imagine it could if you sat still, went slow or had a small Rad. I'm more interested in keeping the crud from building up from the trees around here and 'stuff' from rolling back under when I get wet and maybe mitigate some of the rattle of hood on body noise. Besides that little bit of sealing area between the hood hinges wouldn't account for much air flow I would think. The 85 had one I took out and the 87 is stock from the factory with one (same motor) so I don't think the engineers considered it a big deal.
