XtremeOverKill What do you call the member that will re-inforce the Main caps, and provide for a FLAT surface for a Dry sump oil pan? * I'm not building a radical machine Quite the opposite I'd like to take an AMC Block, crank, rods, and pistons, to let the Long block part be the stand for a Coffee table - with glass top. but I"d like for it to sit flat on the floor, yet still be able to have oil inside, and let people turn the engine to see pistons going up and down. What kind of appratius can I make - or what should I call that re-inforcing member?
Lifted79CJ7 I really like that second one! Or just hook up an electric motor to the cam gear or something like that so it moves slowly. Might be a little hard to make, though...... :-|
XtremeOverKill THAT'S AWESOME!!!! Dont really care for the first one, but the second one is RIGHT on the money! I love that. * look at the 2nd one tho, theres no crank * my thoughts on turning the motor were to remove the 2nd and oil rings, leave some oil in it, and let people turn it by hand, seeing how the pistons ride up and down. Hmm - I like how the pistons come out of the head to make a more sturdy surface... My thoughts were to insert Valves, bend the stem and then weld to a Head bolt. but perhaps the piston idea would work. ?? Where did you get those pics? Google? or your personal library?
pyagid yeah i got them from google and yahoo image search. I have seen that second one before so that is the one i was originally looking for. I know a guy that owns a ferrari mechanic/ restoratrion shop. He used to be able to sell the motors on ebay to people in japan, because that is exactly what they did with them. a useless motor would go for about $3k. -Paul
