redneckjeeper My thing is how in the world do you keep the ceramic coating from coming off of the headers???????????? I bought a set of headers about 3 years ago and in about 3 months the coating came off so I sent them back to Borla Mfg and they recoated them, Put them back on and in 2months it came off again so Borla sent me a new set of headers and i will be damn if that pair only lasted about 6 mos. Tried another brand and they did the samething, what a waste of my money
Lifted79CJ7 :-| Hmmm. Good to know. Thinking of getting some headers at somepoint. NEver heard complaints about them chipping/flaking before. Anyone else have this problem?
jeepsr4ever Flaking would mean they didnt etch these right before plating and will flake untill they are cleaned right. Most guys that pick these up say they work great...what that means I dont know as I havent had a chance to run a set yet
ol' school power Maybe it's a problem with the coating itself adhering to stainless. I've only heard of one failure and it was from enough exhaust heat to melt it off.
RonSon The ti-tec is nice and so far it holds up well on customers non AMC. Its not an offroad car, however. I'm curious how it holds up to heat cycling from water crossings, etc. I know AMCs never leak oil(or anything else for that matter!), but they seem to deal with that ok. I have ceramic coated headers on my Sosucki Slamandcry(I think they are Thorley's) and they are awesome. I know thats like polishing a turd, but they are worth 200 bucks(the headers, not the Samurai). The ceramic has taken a beating from multiple stream crossings, bumper to bumper 115o hour long traffic jams(viva Las Vegas my &*%$), and 4 hour@4900 rpm freeway jaunts at 53MPH do to (1)low gearing(2)low power(3)big tires, or (4)a combination thereon! It has slightly discolored, but I have never tried to clean it(the header or the Samurai) so it might come off. One thing I know for sure is that ceramic sucks for heating cans of food. The stock exhaust was much better for manifold meal in a minute.
