American aid typically goes through international groups that bypass the Palestinian Authority, although Washington contributed directly to a fund used by the authority in the first year after the Oslo peace accord was launched in 1993.

Israel gets about $3 billion a year from Washington. The $20 million for the Palestinian Authority will come from a $75 million package of indirect support approved by Congress.

In July 2003, the Bush administration announced a similar package of direct aid for the Palestinian Authority in a bid to strengthen the hand of then-prime minister Mahmoud Abbas.

Maybe I dont know all the facts but whats laid out seems like special interest to me

I think Wasington considers it a small price to keep a nuclear friend in the middle east. I dont want to sound like an anti-semite but the Jewish people have Very long memories,and we dont want to tick them off. We just may need a big "favor" from Israel someday

They are a small country in a strategic place, but have no exports (they are a through port for bunches of stuff - like diamonds!!). The Israli Moussad (sp?) has the best intelligence network in the world. They have native language speakers all over the area and probably some "in country" and we get some if not most of what they develop. And they have already proven they can hit Iran's nuclear program - effectively. Kinda helps to keep the area in some semblance of balance. They don't have the same restrictions as our military does - 'nuff said on that!! Mudrat

Why is isreal getting 3 billion from washington every year? Why are we loosing our jobs and paying for growth on other countries? Why do we support isreal after they took the land of the palestinians in a hostile take over? Maybe I dont know all the facts but whats laid out seems like special interest to me Do one better than that..................Why in the Hell did we pay for Germany,Japans and all of the other countries recoveries that either attached us or tried to overtake us.............and then give them back their damn countries and their goverments..............we would own over 3/4 of the world if we had just kept those countries and said hey you tried to fawk us...............now we own your ass!.....so 8)

i think our goverment leaders should be the ones in the battle because they are the ones who say when and were we fight,it should not be our friends and family in the military who are way under payed losing thier lives while our officals sit over here relaxing, if we are to protecet our countrie then when they come here and attack us blow them off the face of the earth we have the know how we just dont use it, our troops shouldnt even leave the US, alot of our wars were started for the finacial gain of big companies owned by friends and families of our goverment, i love freedom and the USA but believe it is changing into something that it wasnt ment to be, our freedoms are slowly going away,and our rights are to. god bless america!

Unfortunately, Keeping our troops in our country has been tried. Isolationism doesn't work very well, It's essentially what got us dragged into WW1 and 2 so unprepared. prior to Dec 7 1941 we fully intended to "stay out " of the war and only help Britain with material and lend/lease. then along come the Japanese and presto we are in a war without having been prepared for it. and what is not much talked about we just about got our asses kicked for the first 2 years. While I dont agree with all the money we spend on other countries and I do think if they attack us they should pay for thier own rebuilding. I know sad but true we can't just stay home. As for places like Viet-nam..etc I admit to not having a clue what the point was there..Our troops did what they were sent to do but unfortunately the military wasn't given a clear objective allowed to pursue it. Holy cow look at all this crap that came spilling out how did that happen?
