I just installed your oil pump midplate on my 72 Javelin with a 401. After starting it and leak checking it I took the car for a drive. I got about two miles from my house when the car just stopped. After towing the car home I found that I had no spark. Removed the distributer cap and found the distributer to not rotate. Removed the distributer found the distributer gear sheared. I removed the oil filter adapter and found the oil pump idler gear permanatly frozen to the midplate causing the oil pup drive gear to stop rotating which cause my distributer gear to shear.

Did you check your gear end to housing clearance? The gaskets given out for the oil pump midplate are .007" thick. If your gears stick out more than .006" then you would have fused the gear to the midplate. Factory spec is .004-.006". I wonder if the shaft was worn...also did you use any sealant on the gasket?
