Saw this one on ebay this morning $25 to start, no reserve.

The 390s are big torque engines, because of the long stroke. By the same token, they don't rev fast or high. Factory 390 redline was 5500. A 343 or 360 would rev higher.

For some reason ive had it in my head for several years that the 390 would spin faster/higher than the 401. since its strok was a bit shorter than the 401 i think its 3.44=360, 3.57=390, 3.68=401?? wasnt it. hmmm maybe it wont make a good sand motor, the last one we did was a 360 and it spun 8000 happily, was thinking for some reason that a 390 would be capable of that. Thanks for the tip on ebay bob, I'll have to email the guy and get the scoop
