Nice heads edelbrock at 29.5lbs per piece vs a cast iron head average of 56lbs per piece ocmplete you save 53lbs on your engine alone just by switching to edelbrock heads. The bowls are HUGE and so are the runners the only room for improvement for porting could be the gasket area. The nice thing about these heads is if you overport they can easily be tig welded and trued up. The heads look very nice. I noticed the exaust valve guide boss looks like it blocks flow compared to the factory head in the picture although it is hard to see the valve guide in the stock head. athe 70' 291c's I was looking at today that are still an option for my 343 have almost no valve guide material extending into the exaust port. Why did edelbrock design it with so much material protruding into the exaust port?? Isnt this going to expose that material to prolonged heat as well as obstruct flow? Another thing I noticed from these pictures is the dogleg does not seem to be as big as the stock heads pictured, are those iron heads ported in that area??? I drew a line from the port side of the exaust manifold bolt hole on both heads and the edelbrock dogleg is not even intersecting the line, on the stock head however the line intersects the dog leg, appearing to me that the dog leg on the edelbrock is smaller?? Any comments on this? If those iron heads were ported I guess that explains the difference in size but the edelbrock ports sure do look smaller. :idea:

Yes the dogleg is smaller and doestn match the ports on the exhaust or headers....this is a teaser becasue they flow alot better than stock or ported 291's. Imagine port matching them :shock:

OK I see :!: they are aluminum so gasket matching should be a snap! Now Are the "roofs" on the edelbrock exaust ports raised resulting in the valve guide bosses in the port being exposed more than a stock head?

You wouldnt believe the roof on the inside bowl and the ports...its un freakin believable...Too bad your not a local I would bring you a bare casting

Sounds great, any more pics of the bowls? My block is about to get drilled for 1/2" bolts, dropped off the ARP (70' up) bolts to the shop today so decking will be next, it's been bored .030 and looks great also received my rollaster timing chain today,( ron it does have the oil slot) and the machining on the billet gears is impeccable, so I can confidently recommend the rollmaster.

As for the edelbrock heads, what would be the head gasket to use? Felpro or ROL?
