4 weeks aog I build a medium size welding table and used a old 8" grinder with a flap wheel on it to blend the top. The grinder was kinda loud and I wasnt wearing ear plugs....(idiot) I have ringing in my ears and am having problems hearing people on the phone..its been 4 weeks. I am not hip on ear damage and how to go about fixing it. I am going to sound like a old man really fast now..DANGIT
Is this permanent?

bummer, i was using a air hammer on ball joints friday, i use ear plugs quite often, i did that day. i wish i could point you in the right direction to get it fixed, but i can't :smile: my dad who is 72 claims to have the same thing from being in the army back in the 50's, has to have a radio on to go to sleep, difficult to hear on the phone, an in large crowds at times. i hope it is not going to be a problem for you.

ouch since I work in the construction feild I carry hearing protection all the time in the form of cheap foam earplugs in shirt pockett and shooters muffs in the truck. If it continues I would recomend that you go see a ear doc.

i ran chainsaw 20 yr. I had ear plug in most of the time and I am still deaf That was bad now I stand on the rig and drive casing steel on steel and can't find my ear plug most of the time I need a hearing aid but that for old men.

Worked and slept under a runway worth 60,000 pound aircraft launching and landing for too many years. Ears are still rining, it's called tinitus (sp?). Ever been diving in a rain storm? The sound of the rain on the water is what is in my head 24 hours a day and at times blocks human voices - so naturally, only the ones in my head get thru :shock:

working at boeing i'm always wearing earplugs. its the law here. had ringing in my ears after a rock concert! stood next to the speaker rack :shock: #-o hearing came back after a week.
