Hi all.....I have been looking for some info regarding my 1978 401. What kind of hp is this gonna put out? It has aluminum intake 4 bbl carb, brand new headers and accel super coil. I did search and could find nothing relating to my question. this motor is in a 78 Wagoneer but will soon be in my cj7. Thanks for the help in advance..

WB you should be pushing around 320hp with the right cam, its extremely easy to build 300-350hp with a 401

300 + is not hard to do it just matters what you want to spend doing it

I have no doubt that the 401 will put out a ton of ponys with a decent buildup, what I want to know is what kind of hp is it putting out stock with a 4 bbl carb aluminium intake and headers. I plan on putting this into my cj7 and want to know if its too much.

around 300 ponies depending on camshaft. With a stock cam you will be in the 275-290 range.
