tarior WilRace wroteMy current AMC is an 73 Ambassador with a 401/727 that's still has stock spec's. Car was imported by me from the USA last year. It's supposedly an ex cop car, (it has all the right stuff) that was used at Eglin AFB, Fl. Found the car on Eddie Stakes SUAD drive list and bought moore or less "unseen" only had the pictures at the site listed below to go on, but it turned out better the expected with a strong running motor, and a good chassie. http://www.tauruscomputers.ca/tim/ I can't help myself, I like it! :t:
WilRace I got the car for what I think a very good price considering what just 401's go for on Ebay. Paid $ 1500 for the car itself, but then of course there is the shipping, customs, and registration fee etc, so all in all it has costed me around $ 3000 and change... Worth every Penny, or in my case every "Krona" as our funny money is called. Yepp it had a set of peroid missmatched gauges, but they all work, and show a good oil pressure and vacum reading. :-) Only had to do a regular tune up + some minor welding to pass our car inspection witch is very stringent. Not only do they do a sniffer test but they also check brakes, suspension components, and for structural rust damage.
WilRace No Euros for us. We had a referendum and the No side won with pretty big numbers, so the Danes, British and us have our old trusted coin, for better or worse...
SST343 I own a 67 Rebel SST convertible with a 290 and T-10 4spd. I just purchased a 390 out of a 68 AMX and plan on a future rebuild/repalcement for the 290.
Mudrat Mudrat wroteStopped by a different, and much smaller J-yard this weekend - tOne of 2 small yards that are still open until noon - looking for my 360 flywheel. She didn't have one, but said they had a waggie that the front end burnt up on so she didn't keep it  🙁: Asked if she had any other Jeeps. She just said she had 4 Rebels out back. It didn't hit me until this morning - 4 REBELS!!!! I think I need to go back and see what condition they are in ... :? Well went back today and talked to a guy this time. They have 2 Rambler Classics ('64 and '66) neither of wich are restorable. Both rusted badly and neither have drive trains
fulsizjeep 1988 Grand Wagoneer, built in July 87 when Jeep was still AMC. Has a 76 401, Edelbrock SP2P, AFB 750, Comp Cams 260H, bored .030, 727, NP208, 3.73 gears and rear Lockright. Can leap to the top of 13114 foot passes with grunt force. :lo1l:
Mudrat NICE WAGGIE!!!! I have body parts/glass if you need'm. I have an 88 w/o a drive train I was going to Resto but it's cheaper to buy a whole rig than restore what I have. The local J-yards will only give me scrap weight for it $25-$30 tops  I'd rather find it a home than send it to the crusher.
tarior Too bad you're so far away, I need a windshield, and the top part of the steering column-the part with the ignition switch. Some retard did this:
Mudrat Well I could jerk the whole column and send it. I only have 1 ignition key though ... The windshield would be a bit trickier.
fulsizjeep Thanks for the comments. :t: Just so you are aware, the 86 & newer steering columns are different. They will machanically fit, but the high beam switch and wiper controls are in the turn signal group instead of seperate switches on the dash and floor. So, you would have wiring challenges to change it out with the newer column.
IowaEagle 1980 AMC Concord DL 4 Door (Little old couple car) 1982 AMC Eagle SX/4 Sport -- at the moment just 1K shy of its first 100K -- pretty much my daily driver. Pic was taken before I got the rear suspension back up to where it should be.
Mudrat tarior wroteDo those newer columns use GM style wiper and high beam switches then? Probably so, I replaced my CJ's with a GM version tilt - but my wipers and lights are on the dash, dimmer is still on the floor. I just got my daughters tilt column tonight - it has the delayed wipers and washer wand - I'll check the P/N of the switch and see if it crosses to a GM #
tarior I kinda like the wiper/dimmer controls in the '80's Chevy trucks, I like the idea of converting.
Mudrat tarior wroteI kinda like the wiper/dimmer controls in the '80's Chevy trucks, I like the idea of converting. Well then I'll pull the whole column to the first joint, not even sure if the lower shaft to the steering box is there
Mudrat Welcome IowaEagle!!! We ahve a few folks on here with Eagles!!! I think your the first one with a Concord though :?
