I'm new here, but not to AMCs. My first was a 73 Hornet, which I turned into an SC clone. I've had a V-8 Gremlin, and many Jeeps, both CJ and full size.
I currently have a 77 CJ7, which I've owned since early 78. It has a 74 360 in it, stock bottom with 70 heads that have been mildly ported, and mild cam, Edlebrock intake and Howell EFI. It runs thru a T-18 trans, Scout Dana 300 t-case and custom Dana 44 axles in both ends with 4.27 gears (4.88s soon) and Detroit lockers. It's Spring over with 37" MT/Rs.
My second vehicle is a 69 AMX, factory 390, auto, go pack car. It was a lifetime California car, and is currently in the body shop for minor rust repair and paint. I'm rebuilding the 390 following the 500 HP on pump gas articles that have been printed, so I'm hoping for close to that.
