Here is a great way to inprove your AMC V8's power on all ends.

These pulleys come in a 10% reduction 20% reduction and a 40% reduction. With reduction comes a slight difference in how your water pump acts as well as alternator and power steering. We do not suggest the 20-40% underdrive pulley for stock water pumps. These are made out of one piece billet aluminum and are CNC machined to close tolerance. $134.00 ea

Serpentine pulley set up is what I am looking for. I tried electric radiator fans and they worked great but I did not have enough alternator to run them. After about one hour of jeeping, dead batteries. Tried a late model alternator that make a lot of juice at low rpm‚Äôs smoked the belt off, tried dual belt set up smoked two belts off. Had to go with older alternator and ditch the electric fans. If any one has any ideas please feel free to comment. Dave.

with a serpentine belt setup do you have to run it a certain direction for older engines ie direction of water pump. If not set correctly will it run items in reverse direction and damage accessories and motor? I do know the company march pulleys and serpentine drives have done it for mopars but who does this for amc?

MC, I think I might need a few custcom brackets working with Mezier on and external mechanical setup. But I am gonna' have to mount it. I am thinking I might be able to get it off the stock PS pump? What ya think looks like this:

you really want to run one of those? Well ok...they sell a adaptor plate for mounting what esle would you need ?

Hi Dave, I've got the same problem with my dual 12" fans, with my headlights on, the belt starts to slip and smokes off. Especially when I am idling the engine for a longer period of time and then take of, and the alternator tries to recharge the battery at full power. I considered mounting a second one wire alternator to the engine just for the fans. On the other hand, I also seriously consider going back to a mechanical fan. What kind of fan does the repro shroud that 4wd hardware is offering accept, I mean what size fan will fit?
