Yeah it has been along time, however I did see one on Ebay not to long ago, kinda kicking myself for not getting it :(
For the life of me I can't remember the name of it. I know a guy who made one out of copper flashing the kind they roof with, said it worked good.

I think that is illegal to sell in the US! Asbestos while being a good insulator, is VERY VERY deadly to one health, when i was at 3M we took alot of training on the dangers on asbestos and they basically told us that it was in 3M and that it will probly never be out of the buildings.....WHOA!

From the looks of it I would say they are NOS, so at this point I think they would be ok to sell, just not manufacture now. The packaging looks old for sure though.

Can we get a brief course on the merits and best applications for copper head gaskets over the Fel-Pro/ROL composite styles?
Thanks!
jeepsr4ever
composite gaskets are decent and they are also made very cheap, but CANT hold up to the stress that a dead soft copper gasket can, Copper gaskets are used by the elite draggers and extreme engine builders, the term dead soft means annealed, the term annealed means to soften or bring back to original properties. These gaskets are a leak proof solution and in MANY cases can be used more than once. Think of copper as the cadillac of gaskets with composite the ford and chevy's

With thoughts on going with copper gaskets. What is the need for O-ringing the heads and block. ?? with the Dead Soft Copper, is this still necessary?
:-|
You have my interest, interest to learn, buy, and mimmic

wire was the old way ...I dont even know anyone that uses orings or wire anymore, not neccesary to o-ring, but lets clarify what you mean by O-ringing
XtremeOverKill
I have heard of quite the spectrum of O-Ringing.
I've heard anything from a bead of Krazy Glue - prior to the application of gasket.
To Groving the block, and Head, such that a coper wire, - thickness I do not remember - would be crushed in this "groved zone" and form a perfect seal with the head and the block.
And then I have thought of putting a small gauge copper wire under the gasket, and letting that sandwich the two. - Basically increasing the contact pressure between the head and the block.

You know ive seen many different types of (O-ringing) but thats not neccesary with these gaskets they are dead soft..which means annealed copper.......very maleable and dead soft copper is the BEST gasket you can run for a head gasket

We used to use copper head gaskets on blown BBC, but the heads were milled for 0-ring. We used copper wire.
I'm getting ready to use copper header gaskets, never have, but I figure with the cheap, ur I mean, inexpensive headers I buy, maybe the gaskets won't blow out so quick.
Oh, and on that asbestos thing, The small amount that is used in head gaskets, I wouldn't worry to awful much.
